What exactly is a couple’s boudoir photo experience? What is the point of it? Why do it? As a photographer who has been documenting couples since 2009, I have to say a couple’s boudoir is one of my favorite ways to document a couple’s love. And it’s not at all about the lingerie!
So, what is a couple’s boudoir photography?
Couple’s boudoir photography is a genre of photography that truly captures a couple’s intimacy, connection, sensuality, and vulnerability together. These photography experiences can be as sexy or as tame as the couple desires. Clothed, in states of undress, or in lingerie – these sessions are about what makes you two feel sexy and close to one another. The goal of these images is to really celebrate the love and passion between you two.
Do you both need a “perfect” body to enjoy a boudoir couple’s photo experience?
First of all, the way you are right at this moment is perfect for you. This is your body that has carried you through life and supported you. There is no room for unrealistic body expectations in a couple’s boudoir. These sessions are about your connection and intimacy together. Along with that, you get to dress in what is comfortable to you. I assure you that your body is good enough and worthy of being documented with the person you love. And remember your partner thinks that you are absolutely beautiful just the way you are.

You’ll both be looking your best and sharing a unique bond that makes the dinner even more special. So, it’s not just a photoshoot, it’s a memorable, fun, and romantic night out with your loved one.
Your photos can be sexy, or sweet… or both!
This is an experience for both of you! When hiring a couple’s boudoir photographer, it’s essential to have a conversation with them about your ideas and inspiration for your session. You don’t have to go all out sexy for your couple’s boudoir photoshoot! Many of my couples have chosen to keep most of their clothes on, and we’ve captured sweet, slightly sexy, yet incredibly intimate and vulnerable moments. However, if you’re up for some spicier shots, go for it! Your photographer should assure you that your images will remain private unless you give consent by signing a model release form. Remember, this is about your relationship, your connection, and your unique photo experience. How do you want to be portrayed, and what do you want to cherish in the future?
